Ever fancied having a go on a potter's wheel? We're bringing the pottery to Melfort Village for two mornings of relaxed, informal wheel throwing. There's no need to book a time, just come along between 10am and 12:45pm, grab a lump of clay and jump on a wheel.

For two mornings this October we're setting up our pottery wheels at Melfort Village and opening them up to anyone who fancies getting their hands muddy.
These are completely informal drop-in sessions. There's no timetable and no need to book a slot. Just wander along between 10am and 12:45pm, and when a wheel becomes available, jump on.
For £15 per try, we'll give you a lump of clay, sit you behind one of our potter's wheels and guide you through making your own pot.
We'll show you how to centre the clay, open it up and start pulling the walls, then it's over to you, with one of us nearby to rescue things if your beautiful vase suddenly decides it would rather become a plate.
Most sessions take around 15 minutes, although pottery and stopwatches have never been particularly good friends.
What happens to my pot?
Whatever you make is yours to take away.
Your pot will still be freshly thrown and very soft, so we'll show you how best to carry it and give you a little advice on what you can do with it afterwards.
Can I have another go?
Absolutely.
There's no limit to one try. If you finish your first pot and immediately decide you've discovered your calling, grab another lump of clay and go again for another £15.
Do I need any experience?
None whatsoever.
These sessions are designed for complete beginners, families, holidaymakers and anyone who's walked past a potter's wheel before and thought, I'd quite like a shot of that.
Children are welcome too, from zero to hero.
